These are frequently suggested for appropriate patients. They are not right for everyone and should not be considered a substitute for an individualized treatment plan.

Pure Encapsulations Vitamin D3 & K2
4,000 IU vitamin D3 + 100 mcg vitamin K2 (MK-7) per capsule
WHY OUR OFFICE SUGGESTS IT: Combines vitamin D3 and active vitamin K2 in one capsule to support healthy calcium utilization, bone and vascular health, and normal immune function.
MAY BE CONSIDERED FOR: Adults whose vitamin D needs have been reviewed with a healthcare professional, particularly when laboratory monitoring is appropriate.
IMPORTANT: Vitamin K may be contraindicated with warfarin (Coumadin). Consult your clinician if you take blood thinners, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a health condition, or already take vitamin D. The manufacturer recommends blood-level monitoring when daily vitamin D intake exceeds 2,000 IU.

Life Extension Mega Benfotiamine
250 mg benfotiamine + 10 mg thiamine (vitamin B1) per capsule
WHY OUR OFFICE SUGGESTS IT: Provides a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1 formulated to support healthy glucose metabolism, blood glucose already within a healthy range, and the body's defenses against glycation and oxidative stress.
MAY BE CONSIDERED FOR: Adults whose clinician believes supplemental benfotiamine is appropriate after reviewing their health history and current medications.
IMPORTANT: Do not use this page to self-treat diabetes, neuropathy, or another medical condition. Consult your physician before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, undergoing medical treatment, or taking medication.
SUPPORT DURING GLP-1 TREATMENT
Foundational Support for GLP-1 Patients
When appetite and food intake decrease, consistently meeting nutritional needs can become more difficult. Supplements do not replace protein, fiber, hydration, or balanced meals. Recommendations should be matched to the patient's diet, symptoms, medications, kidney function, and laboratory results.

Mg
Pure Encapsulations Magnesium Glycinate
120 mg elemental magnesium per capsule
WHY: Provides a highly bioavailable, generally well-tolerated form of magnesium that supports normal neuromuscular function, energy metabolism, and bone mineralization.
WHEN: May be considered when dietary intake or clinical assessment indicates that additional magnesium is appropriate.
IMPORTANT: Not presented as a treatment for constipation or other GLP-1 adverse effects. Ask a clinician before use, especially with kidney disease or medication use.

ONE
Pure Encapsulations O.N.E. Multivitamin
Once-daily vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants
WHY: Offers a convenient one-capsule-per-day source of essential vitamins, minerals, active folate, and antioxidants to support overall wellness when used alongside a balanced diet.
WHEN: May be considered when reduced intake, limited food variety, or clinician assessment suggests a need for broad foundational nutrient support.
IMPORTANT: Does not replace adequate food intake. Review other supplements to avoid duplication and consult a clinician with health conditions or medication use.

Ca
Pure Encapsulations Calcium (citrate)
Highly absorbable calcium chelate
WHY: Provides calcium in a citrate form to support bone mineral composition and bone health when dietary calcium is insufficient.
WHEN: May be considered after reviewing food-based calcium intake, vitamin D status, health history, and the total calcium supplied by all products.
IMPORTANT: Not automatically needed with GLP-1 therapy. Ask a clinician before use with kidney disease, kidney stones, high calcium levels, pregnancy, or medication use; calcium can affect absorption of some medicines.

Protein, Vitamin B12 & Fiber
These supports are selected according to intake, tolerance, symptoms, medications, and laboratory findings. They are not automatically required for every person using a GLP-1 medication.
PROTEIN
Whey Protein
Complete protein powder
WHY: Offers a convenient way to increase high-quality protein when reduced appetite makes food-based protein difficult to reach.
WHEN: May be considered to help meet an individualized protein target and support lean tissue alongside resistance training.
IMPORTANT: Not appropriate for a milk-protein allergy. Choose a formula based on tolerance, kidney function, and the overall nutrition plan.

Pure Encapsulations Methylcobalamin
Vitamin B12 | 1,000 mcg
WHY: Supports normal red blood cell formation, neurological function, and energy metabolism when B12 intake or status is inadequate.
WHEN: May be considered when diet, symptoms, medication history, or laboratory testing identifies a need.
IMPORTANT: B12 is not automatically needed because someone takes a GLP-1. The product and dose should be selected after clinical review.

OFFICE SUGGESTIONS
Commonly Recommended by Our Office
Food First, Supplements Second

PHYSICIAN-GUIDED PAIN SUPPORT
Top Supplements by Pain Type
Evidence varies by diagnosis, product, and patient. These supplements are options to discuss with Dr. Khanna. Supplements do not replace a medical evaluation, movement-based care, or prescribed treatments. Exact products and doses should be individualized.
Joint and Osteoarthritis Pain
Glucosamine + Chondroitin
EVIDENCE: Knee-osteoarthritis studies and professional guidelines are inconsistent; the best evidence does not support promising cartilage preservation or routine pain relief.
IMPORTANT: Review warfarin or other anticoagulants, diabetes, allergies, and product source before considering a clinician-supervised trial.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids (Fish Oil)
EVIDENCE: Research suggests a possible modest benefit for rheumatoid-arthritis symptoms; evidence is stronger for RA than for osteoarthritis.
IMPORTANT: Not a replacement for arthritis medication. Review fish allergy, bleeding risk, anticoagulants, and upcoming procedures.
Turmeric (Curcumin)
EVIDENCE: Research is preliminary, and evidence remains insufficient for routine treatment of musculoskeletal inflammatory disorders.
IMPORTANT: Do not compare it with prescription anti-inflammatories. Some high-bioavailability products have been linked to liver injury; review liver or gallbladder disease and medication interactions.
Nerve and Fibromyalgia Pain
Magnesium Glycinate
EVIDENCE: Magnesium supports normal neuromuscular function, but evidence for meaningful fibromyalgia pain relief is limited and does not establish it as a stand-alone treatment.
IMPORTANT: Use only after reviewing total magnesium intake, kidney function, gastrointestinal tolerance, and medication timing.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid + Vitamin B12
EVIDENCE: Alpha-lipoic acid is sometimes considered for neuropathic symptoms. Vitamin B12 is most appropriate when testing or clinical history identifies deficiency or increased risk.
IMPORTANT: Burning, numbness, or sharp pain needs a cause-specific evaluation. Alpha-lipoic acid may affect glucose; coordinate it with diabetes treatment and medication review.
Clinical review comes first
EVIDENCE: Pain can arise from arthritis, nerve compression, vitamin deficiency, diabetes, medication effects, or other conditions that require different treatment.
IMPORTANT: Seek prompt care for new weakness, loss of bowel or bladder control, fever with severe pain, chest pain, or sudden severe symptoms.
A note on dosing
There is no single safe or effective dose for every patient. Working with a qualified, knowledgeable medical team is the best way to select the product, dose, trial length, and monitoring plan that are right for you based on your diagnosis, medications, laboratory results, and treatment goals.
